Maintenance Management: Is There a FED LOG® Download Alternative?
BLUF:
Downloaded copies of FED LOG
®
can be burned onto a disk for use on non-networked MSDs, but there are some cautions.
Dear Half-Mast,
Is there any way to get a copy of FED LOG
®
without an Internet connection? The maintainers in our motor pool don’t have networked MSDs and their copies of FED LOG
®
are woefully out of date.
MSG H.K.
Dear Master Sergeant,
Unfortunately, there’s no way to get a copy of FED LOG
®
without downloading it but that doesn’t mean all is lost. A maintenance leader could use a networked computer to download a copy of FED LOG
®
, burn the files to a disk and use the disk to install FED LOG
®
onto the non-networked MSDs.
If you use this method, keep these two things in mind:
The data in FED LOG
®
is CUI (formerly FOUO). Protect it and any burned CDs/disks accordingly.
The FED LOG
®
files are updated monthly, so you’ll need to update the MSDs regularly. Updates are available on the first business day of each month.
