Corrosion: Training the Basics
BLUF:
This "corrosion basics" slide presentation offers a template for corrosion training.
Sgt. Bill Boecker
Maintenance leaders, the U.S. Army Garrison (USAG)-Miami created an excellent PowerPoint presentation on corrosion basics that
PS
thought worthwhile to pass along.
While the presentation focuses on weapons, the basic corrosion information applies to most vehicles and equipment. The slides are good training material as they are, or you can use them as a template and tailor them to your unit’s specific needs.
The presentation covers:
Why the Army cares about corrosion
Corrosion basic info
Corrosion prevention
Corrosion mitigation
Contact info
Additional resources and references
Note that these slides don’t include non-metallic (e.g., hydraulic hoses, tires etc.) info or any discussion on CARC spot painting. For that, see TM 43-0242,
Chemical Agent Resistant Coating Spot Painting for Army Ground Equipment
